Clare Main of Westerhope Village Nursery has almost completed her NVQ level 2 in Team Leading with Zodiac Training. Clare has demonstrated real determination and dedication particularly in overcoming her ‘fear’ of maths.

Clare began work with Westerhope Village Nursery 27th August 2002 as a part time Nursery Assistant with a Teaching Assistants certificate level 1 and 2 and a Sessional Creche workers certificate.   Clare established herself as a competent and caring nursery assistant and decided to under take an NVQ level 3 in Childcare and Education.  Clare successfully completed this in November 2006 and was promoted to Nursery Nurse.
After this Clare identified areas she would like to improve upon whilst working with the babies.  An opportunity arose for her to complete an Infant Practitioners Course Level 2 of which she did to a high standard.  Clare also implemented many aspects of this course into the nurseries day to day policies and procedures by working closely with the management team.

In November 2008 when a full time Senior’s role became available Clare decided to apply.  She was again successful and was given the post to start 5th January 2009.  Clare not only increased her working hours to full time with this new role but also took up the post in a new room with an older aged group of children and a new staff team to direct.  Part of this role also incorporates Clare becoming the designated Health and Safety person for the nursery of which she has completed the appropriate training.

Again with guidance from the management team Clare enthusiastically accepted to participate in an NVQ level 2 in Team Leading which would support her in her new role as full time Senior.

Clare continues to apply herself continuously and to a high standard during the various units of the NVQ Team Leading course and has met every area with determination and a positive attitude.  Clare also recently successfully completed her Technical Certificates as part of her NVQ.

Prior to Clare undertaking the test for this it was identified that she had a few issues and was struggling with her mathematics.  In fact Clare has had an intense fear of mathematics since school.  Zodiac Training provided someone to support Clare in her mathematics which enabled her to have the confidence as well as the added ability to tackle such a challenge.  Most people when presented with a problem would not rise to the occasion however Clare worked through this area and indeed all areas of her course with 100% motivation, hard work and dedication.  She always met any deadlines set regardless of her life situations to the best of her ability.  Clare completed some of the course materials within her working day but used a lot of her time at home after working hours to consolidate her learning and make sure she understood what the course areas were asking her.

Clare always strives to increase her levels of knowledge and ability.  She has met every challenge presented to her with determination and enthusiasm and although has three older children of her own to look after still manages to take immense pride in all she does of which I have no doubt is the secret to her success.
