Zodiac Training have held a number of fund-raising events to raise money for Jarrow-based youth and community organisation, Millennium Phab Club.

The aim of the organisation is to integrate people of different abilities in social, educational and leisure activities. Working with people of all ages, some of whom experience learning and physical disabilities, the club allows individuals to come together on a regular basis on equal terms to integrate and make new friends in a warm and friendly environment.

Joanne Scott, Training Advisor at Zodiac Training, was instrumental in organising the fund-raising activities. She says that the Phab Club is very close to her heart.

“I first got involved with the organisation when I came to deliver Management qualifications to the staff of Millennium Phab Club. I was immediately struck by the wonderful, inclusive atmosphere, the dedication of the staff and volunteers and by the positive impact the Club has on the lives of those who use it.

“The more I visited the club the more I appreciated how important it is for its users and so I decided that I should become a volunteer myself. Once a week I spend an evening helping out at the club and each time I arrive I am literally welcomed with open arms – it’s like being part of a family!

“I’m thrilled that through Zodiac Training we have been able to raise this money. It will go towards leisure activities for the group which form a vital part of the services Millennium Phab Club offer.”

Zodiac Training Managing Director, Jonathan Smith, visited Millennium Phab Club to see the excellent work that takes place there. He said, “I am delighted that Zodiac Training, through the help of our staff, have been able to raise funds for such a superb centre which will provide an opportunity for the club users to participate in outdoor activities which the club is arranging. It has been great to meet all the wonderful people who  attend and are involved with running the Millenium Club which is clearly a vital part of the community here in Jarrow.”
