The Placement Programme is a long term motivational programme for young people who will benefit from gaining skills and qualifications outside of the classroom.

Pupils undertake the vocational programmes as an alternative or as a complementary programme alongside their GCSEs. The placements are fully vetted and the young people are monitored and trained throughout.  The young people work towards various qualifications including NVQs, Key Skills, Wider Key Skills, Health and Safety and Preparation for Employment. As all of our certificated courses attract points, their achievement can be included within the 250 points required to continue into further education.

CASE STUDY

James Garvey, aged 15, was referred to Zodiac’s Placement Programme through his careers advisor. He completed a work placement with builder’s merchants Jewsons, whilst working towards a Distributive Operations NVQ Level 1. Through Zodiac’s support, James has secured an apprenticeship with Hedley Parker Store and is now following a Customer Service Apprenticeship programme at Level 2.

James commented: “I really enjoyed the Placement Programme. During my programme I gained confidence and learnt many skills that helped me get my new job at Hedley Parker Store.  I would still be mucking about and doubt I would be in a job if my careers advisor hadn’t put me in touch with Zodiac.  In my new job I’m learning about the building trade and getting a qualification.”
