Children and Young People’s Work Force (Child Care)
Level 2 and 3

Available at NVQ Levels 2 and 3, Apprenticeship and Advanced Apprenticeship.

The aim of the Children and Young People’s Work Force qualifications is to contribute to the skills, knowledge and overall performance of the Child Care industry. They provide an insight into the principles and processes of the delivery of  Learning and Development with children and young people from 4-16 years and will aid career progression.

NVQ Level 2

Level 2 learners are required to offer care and support to children and their families within a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency culture and to evaluate the outcomes, whilst working within the context of the principles and values of the sector. This NVQ is designed primarily for those who work in face-to-face roles with children and families.

NVQ Level 3

The focus of this NVQ is leading and supervising or working unsupervised whilst providing child care services for children and their families. Level 3 learners are required to offer care and support to children and their families within a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency culture and to evaluate outcomes, whilst working within the context of the principles and values of the sector. This programme is designed primarily for those who work in face-to-face roles with children and families, who may have supervisory responsibilities, specialist roles or work unsupervised.

Apprenticeship
The Apprenticeship qualification consists of the following elements:

• Key Skills – Application of Number Level 1 and Communication Level 1
• Technical Certificate – Certificate in Children and Young People’s Work Force Level 2 and First Aid Certificate in Paediatrics
• Employment Rights and Responsibilities
• NVQ Level 2 – see above

Advanced Apprenticeship
The Advanced Apprenticeship qualification consists of the following elements:

• Key Skills – Application of Number Level 2 and Communication Level 2
• Technical Certificate in Children and Young People’s Work Force Level 3 and First Aid Certificate in Paediatrics
• Employment Rights and Responsibilities
• NVQ Level 3 – see above
