Available at NVQ Levels 2 and 3, Apprenticeship and Advanced Apprenticeship our Playwork qualification is aimed at individuals working in or seeking to gain work with children or young people in environments such as after-school or breakfast clubs and seasonal holiday clubs. Learners may be working as playworkers, assistant playworkers or children’s holiday representatives amongst other roles. The qualification is also suitable for those wanting to work in children’s centres or children’s services.
NVQ Level 2
The qualification in Playwork is for staff working directly with children and young people in a setting which provides opportunities for freely chosen, self-directed play. Such staff do not have full responsibility for the play environment but make a significant contribution to supporting the play of those aged between 4 and 16.
The qualification consists of a total of 6 units – 4 mandatory plus 2 from a range of options. See the Full Unit List for details.
NVQ Level 3
The qualification is for experienced staff who have supervisory responsibilities or who work unsupervised in a setting whose main purpose is to provide children and young people (4-16yrs) with opportunities for freely chosen, self-directed play.
