Overview:

This workshop is designed to provide delegates with a comprehensive introduction into the coaching cycle, covering the coaching process, the benefits of coaching, and skills and attributes that contribute towards successful coaching.

Learning Outcomes:

• Defining and understanding coaching
• Benefits of coaching
• Differences between coaching and mentoring
• Skills and attributes needed to be an effective coach
• Increased self-awareness of own development needs through self-assessment tool

Workshop content:

What is coaching?

• Definitions – clarity and detail over the coaching concept and models
• Defining what a good coach does
• Syndicate group session to identify the benefits of coaching
• Key differences between coaching and mentoring

Skills and attributes needed to be an effective coach:

• Syndicate group session to identify the key skills and attributes felt to be vital to successful coaching
• Active listening – the 5 levels of listening
• Effective questioning
• Self-evaluation tool
• Practical role play scenarios using the Grow model (full day workshop only)

• John Whitmore’s Grow Model
• Boyatzis’ Model of Intentional Change
• Iceberg model
• Gibbs, Atkins & Murphy Reflective Model
• West-Burnham’s Modes of Learning

The workshop will be supported with detailed handouts and e-resources.

Suitable for:
Anyone in a coaching, management or team leading role who would like to improve or refresh their coaching skills

Duration:
This course can be delivered as a half day session or a more in depth full day session

Cost:
£75 per person half day. £125 per person full day
