Overview:

This workshop is designed to provide delegates with an increased awareness of learning difficulties, with specific exploration of Dyslexia. It gives a comprehensive understanding of the characteristics of Dyslexia and how those characteristics can affect an individuals’ daily life. It identifies and explores the types of support available.

Learning Outcomes:

• To understand Accessible responsibilities within the Discrimination Legislation under The Equality Act 2010.
• To increase knowledge of learning difficulties
• Hold an increased understanding of Dyslexia
• To explore and identify the range of support available

Workshop content:

Accessibility:

• Define Accessibility
• Identify what is new and what has changed within the Discrimination legislation Specific Learning Difficulties
• Looking at specific learning difficulties, their causes and associated barriers to learning

Dyslexia Quiz:

• Establishing our perception and understanding of Dyslexia

Dyslexia Characteristics/Impacts:

• Exploring the characteristics of Dyslexia and identifying key difficulties they cause
• Identifying the impacts those difficulties can have on daily life Dyslexia Success Stories
• Looking at well known adults with Dyslexia and the success they have achieved in their life despite this condition

Support Available:

• Exploring various support tools that are available and key web sites

The workshop will be supported with detailed handouts and e-resources.

Suitable for:
Teachers, trainers, coaches and mentors who wish to work more effectively with learners diagnosed with Dyslexia.

Half day

£75 per person
