Overview:

This workshop is designed to provide delegates with a comprehensive understanding of what effective communication is. It identifies the key components of communication, what behaviours are required and what are the barriers to effective communication and how these can be overcome.

Learning Outcomes:

• Understand the different ways we communicate
• The anatomy of communication
• Barriers to communication and how to overcome these
• How to communicate effectively using a variety of methods
• Recognising the need for self-awareness and reflection to build communication skills

Workshop content:

How do we communicate?

• Key components of communication
• Syndicate group activity to identify the various communication methods
• The importance of body language in communication

What is effective communication?

• Definitions
• Identifying the key behaviours and attitudes needed
• The role of active listening and effective questioning

Barriers to effective communication:

• Syndicate group activity to identify the barriers to effective communication
• Circle of influence – what can we change or improve?
• Reducing barriers – problem solving activity

How good are your communication skills?

• Facilitated activities designed to allow delegates to practice knowledge gained in earlier sessions and to allow them to begin evaluating their current communication skill level
• Development planning exercise to provide focus on potential areas for improvement
• Communication style matrix to support development planning

The workshop will be supported with detailed handouts and e-resources.

Duration:
This course can be delivered as a half day session or a more in depth full day session

Cost:
£75 per person half day. £125 per person full day

We can also design and deliver bespoke workshops and training programmes to support individual business training needs as required.
