Overview:

This workshop is designed to provide delegates with the knowledge and insights to effectively manage their employees. From early intervention, through to the formal disciplinary process in line with current ACAS guidance and employment legislation, the workshop provides a complete walk-through of the entire performance management process and provides a range of best practice tips and advice to ensure all people-related issues are effectively and fairly managed.

Learning Outcomes:

• Recognise the behaviours required to manage people in your team effectively
• Understand the impact of not addressing performance issues within your team
• Understand the formal performance management process that should be followed
• Practice conducting an investigative and disciplinary meeting with a real-life role play situation
• Understand areas for ongoing self-development

Workshop content:

Behaviours and attitudes:

• Positive role model behaviours
• Clear and honest communication
• Importance of assertion
• Syndicate group activity to identify what is the impact of not managing people effectively

The process:

• Early intervention – the counselling session stage
• Investigative meeting stage
• Disciplinary meeting stage
• Dismissal
• Mitigating circumstances

Practical application:
Delegates will work in small syndicate groups and progress a real-life scenario through the main process stages using role play The workshop will be supported with detailed handouts and e-resources

Anyone who is responsible for managing people or the performance of a team: Managers, Team Leaders, Supervisors and Line Managers.
